Birthday Girl's 8

Day 11 of 365

The smell of lasagna and french bread loft the air. The cake sits idle on the counter, a masterpiece once again, made by the wonderful Kristi's Cakes and Pastries. Snowmen was the request of the birthday girl. The house is ready to accompany the guests for the day. As they all start to arrive, laughter and hello's fill the air. Hugs go around, and they all find a spot to call theirs for the afternoon. It is Lailah's birthday! (tomorrow, January 10, is her actual birthday, but today we will celebrate with friends and family.) Presents fill the counter top.

Lunch is ready and we all sit down to consume the most amazing lasagna we have ever eaten. An amazing recipe by the Pioneer Woman. The french loaf is fresh from the oven and it is just as delicious. (even if my fingertip was almost sliced off while cutting the bread). As our bellies fill and the compliments are sent to the chef, dishes are piled and washed. (thank you mom's).

Present time! Lailah received plenty of wonderful gifts, mostly board games, and a Nintendo ds game, some barbies with clothes and a write and illustrate your own story book. The cards are read and thank you's go around. Thank you to everyone who came today and shared in our birthday celebration! Now it is time to get the cake. 8 tiny candles are placed on the snowman cake and we sing 'Happy Birthday'. It's cut and passed around. The most delish Raspberry swirl with whipped frosting. Yum. A game of Uno was played and the guests slowly made their way to the door to head home. A wonderful day indeed!

I wanted to share this picture of the cake that Kristi made alongside the cake picture that I found on flickr and emailed over to her. She does SUCH a wonderful job!

Lailah also lost another tooth today. How exciting to lose a tooth on your Birthday eve.

After everyone had left and the mess was cleaned up, Laiah and I made her cupcakes for her birthday snack at school tomorrow. They are mini devils food cupcakes with mint whipped frosting and sprinkles on top.
